C JR Murphy 1-4, 2B, K - batting .286 since his promotion to Triple-A
RF Fernando Martinez 1-4, K
1B Randy Ruiz 1-4, HR, RBI, 3 K - second homer since being acquired
DH Dan Johnson 1-3, BB
CF Cody Grice 1-4, 3 K
LF Addison Maruszak 1-3, BB - batting .249 this season
SS Alberto Gonzalez 1-4, 2B, RBI
3B Dan Fiorito 0-4, K, E5 - fielding error, second since being promoted

Chase Whitley 2.2 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, K
Matt Daley 1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB

The RailRiders couldn't get much offense going until the late innings, and their pitchers allowed the Red Wings to pick up 13 hits in the game. JR Murphy continues to hit well, which may start to bring up questions about the Yankees' insistence on keeping Austin Romine in the majors. Ivan Nova starts for SWB tonight at 7:05 pm against the Norfolk Tides.

Double-A Trenton Thunder: W 1-0 vs. Akron Aeros

LF Ramon Flores 0-4, K
CF Slade Heathcott 0-3, BB, 2 K, CS

DH Kyle Roller 0-2, 2 BB
SS Carmen Angelini 1-4, 2B, K

2B Jose Pirela 1-3, 2B, RBI, K

Danny Burawa 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, K, WP
Tom Kahnle 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 2 K - given up 2 ER in last 11.1 IP

The only run of the game was scored on an RBI double by Pirela that drove in Corona before Pirela was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double. Turley got his sixth win of the season and Kahnle picked up his ninth save. Trenton also went to one game over .500 for the season. Scottie Allen makes his Double-A debut tonight at 7:05 pm.

High-A Tampa Yankees: W 3-2 vs. Brevard County Manatees

CF Mason Williams 2-3, BB, CS - batting .324/.359/.405 over his last 10 games

3B Anderson Feliz 1-3, BB, K, 3 E5 - three fielding errors, 17th, 18th, and 19th of the season
2B Angelo Gumbs 0-2, BB
1B Saxon Butler 2-3, 2B, RBI - batting .321/.424/.714 over his last 10 games
SS Ali Castillo 0-3, 3 K

Michael Pineda 4 IP, 5 H, 2 R/1 ER, BB, 3 K - four groundouts, six flyouts
Eric Wooten 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
Rich Mascheri 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
Alex Smith 1 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, K, WP - first game since promotion

Feliz is a bit of a mess at third base, and it cost Pineda an unearned run. He allowed three singles to start the game, but really settled in after that. The Yankees tied the game in the fourth and pulled ahead for good in the fifth. Reliever Dietrich Enns makes his High-A debut in a start for Tampa tonight at 7:00 pm.

Low-A Charleston RiverDogs: W 4-2 vs. Rome Braves

CF Jake Cave 1-4, BB, K, SB - batting .351/.400/.568 over his last 10 games
SS Cito Culver 0-4, BB, 3 K, SB
1B Greg Bird 2-5, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 K - batting. 368/.400/.632 over his last 10 games
C Peter O'Brien 0-4, K, pickoff
3B Dante Bichette Jr. 0-4, K - 2 for his last 37 (.054)
DH Reymond Nunez 0-4, 2 K

2B Jose Rosario 0-2, BB, K, SB
RF Danny Oh 2-4, 2 RBI, 2 SB - batting .419/.455/.484 over his last 10 games

Derek Varnadore 1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB
Phil Wetherell 2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, BB

Most of the RiverDogs offense is clicking right now and they got on the board in each of the first two innings and managed to overcome being out-hit by the Braves for their 40th win of the season, which was win number 7 on the season for Rutckyj. Jose (Vicente? I was told he prefers to go by that now...) Campos gets the start for Charleston tonight at 7:00 pm.

Short Season-A Staten Island Yankees: L 0-6 vs. Hudson Valley Renegades

SS John Murphy 1-5, CS
DH Derek Toadvine 1-4, BB - hit safely in all three games for the Yankees this season
CF Michael O'Neill 2-5, 3 K - 5 for 13 to start his season (.385)
LF Brandon Thomas 1-4, K
1B Kale Sumner 3-4
C Isaias Tejeda 0-4, E2 - pickoff error, first of the season
RF Mikeson Oliberto 1-4, K
2B Hector Crespo 0-4, K, E4 - fielding error, first of the season
3B Jerison Lopez 2-2, E5 - fielding error, first of the season

Rookie Davis 4 IP, 5 H, 3 R/2 ER, BB, WP, HB - nine groundouts, two flyouts
Dillon McNamara 2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 2 BB
Sam Agnew-Wieland 2 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, BB, K - two groundouts, two flyouts
Charles Haslup 1 IP, 3 H, 3 R/1 ER, BB, K

When you don't score, it matters little what the other team does, but sloppy defense abounded tonight around the infield. Their season is just beginning, so it's probably okay to cut them some slack. The Yankees take on the Renegades again tonight at 7:05 pm.
