Baby Bomber Recap 4/17/13: RailRiders cruise to their fourth straight win

New, comments

Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders: W 7-0 vs. Rochester Red Wings

Corban Joseph 1-5, RBI
David Adams 3-4, BB - batting .333
Zoilo Almonte 1-4, 2B, RBI, BB
Luke Murton 1-4, RBI
Melky Mesa 2-5, 2B
Thomas Neal 2-4, CS, HBP
Bobby Wilson 1-4, HR, 4 RBI, K, PB - two-run homer, first of the season

Graham Stoneburner 6 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K - 10 groundouts, five flyouts
Sam Demel 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 K - 16 of 25 pitches for strikes
Juan Cedeno 1.1 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, BB, K

Four straight wins for the RailRiders who got another strong pitching performance out of their starter tonight. Stoneburner might be demoted so that Chien-Ming Wang can pitch in the Triple-A rotation (when Betances should be demoted instead), but it won't be because he was struggling. Speaking of Betances, he gets the start today at 7:05 pm.

Double-A Trenton Thunder: L 6-10 vs. Akron Aeros

Slade Heathcott 1-5, BB, K - first game back after missing time with stiff neck
Jose Pirela 3-5, K, SB - first of the season
Tyler Austin 0-3, 2 BB, K - in an 8 for 41 slump
Kyle Roller 2-5, K
Rob Segedin 1-3, 2B, 2 RBI, HBP
Kevin Mahoney 3-4, 2 RBI, BB
Casey Stevenson 2-5, RBI, K - batting .333

Francisco Rondon 5 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K - eight groundouts, four flyouts
Kelvin Perez 2 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, BB, K, WP - allowed two home runs
Danny Burawa 1 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, K
Josh Romanski 1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, K

The Thunder bullpen fell apart, allowing seven runs after starter Francisco Rondon left the game. That would prove to be too much for the offense to overcome, even with a four-run seventh inning. Matt Tracy gets the start today at 6:35 pm against the Erie Seawolves.

High-A Tampa Yankees: W 9-4 vs. Dunedin Blue Jays

Ben Gamel 1-5, RBI - 11 for his last 39
Carmen Angelini 2-5, RBI, K
Gary Sanchez 1-4, 2B, 2 RBI, K - batting .327
Saxon Butler 2-3, BB, K
Ali Castillo 1-2, HR, 2 RBI, BB, HBP - will be joining the Thunder according to beat writer Josh Norris
Francisco Arcia 2-4, K, PB
Cody Grice 1-4, 2 RBI, K
Eduardo Sosa 0-4, RBI, 3 K

Shane Greene 6.1 IP, 6 H, 3 R/2 ER, 0 BB, 6 K - eight groundouts, two flyouts
Daniel Mahoney 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 BB - two groundouts, two flyouts
Joel De La Cruz 1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER

A rare win for the Tampa Yankees! Mason Williams had the night off, but the offense came up big anyway. Mikey O'Brien starts for the Yankees today at 7:05 against the Daytona Cubs.

Low-A Charleston RiverDogs: W 4-1 vs. Rome Braves

Taylor Dugas 1-3, RBI, BB, HBP
Cito Culver 0-3, BB, K, CS - eight for his last 43
Greg Bird 2-4, 2 K
Rob Refsnyder 3-4, 3B, 2 RBI - batting .370
Dante Bichette Jr. 0-4, K - eight for his last 43
Yeicok Calderon 0-3, BB, SB
Nick McCoy 1-4, 2B, RBI, K, PB

Gabriel Encinas 5 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 5 K, WP - 51 of 81 pitches for strikes
Alex Smith 3 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 K - five groundouts, one flyout
Taylor Garrison 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, K

Gabe Encinas was strong once again and the offense came through to get him his second win of the season, no thanks to Cito Culver or Dante Bichette Jr. Jose Campos starts for Charleston today at 7 pm against the Hickory Crawdads.
