World Baseball Classic/Off Day Open Thread: Dominican Republic vs. The Netherlands

Al Bello

The Yankees have the day off, but baseball is still being played elsewhere. Robinson Cano (MVP of Rounds 1 and 2 of the WBC) and Tony Pena's Dominican Republic team battle MLB's top prospect, Jurickson Profar, and the Netherlands tonight at 9 p.m. for the right to advance to the World Baseball Classic finals against Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico eliminated Team USA before knocking out two-time defending champion Japan to make it to the finals. The game will be aired on MLB Network.

The Dominican Republic was eliminated in a shocking upset by the Netherlands in 2009, so they will be looking for a bit of revenge against the Dutch this time around. Diegomar Markwell of the Dutch Major League gets the start for the Netherlands, while the San Diego Padres' Edinson Volquez takes the ball for Team Dominican Republic.

If you're over the World Baseball Classic after the elimination of Team USA, or were never really into it to begin with, feel free to discuss whatever you'd like. The NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament begins tomorrow. If you'd like to join Pinstriped Bible's Tournament Pick'em, sign up information can be found here.

Enjoy your night, everyone.
