It's win-or-go-home for Team USA once again, as they take on Puerto Rico for the chance to advance to the World Baseball Classic semifinals in San Francisco at AT&T Park. Team USA faced Puerto Rico in an elimination game in the 2009 World Baseball Classic, and went on to win and advance along with Venezuela from Miami. The winner of tonight's game will play the Dominican Republic on Sunday for the right to play the winner of Japan/Netherlands in the finals.
Team USA will send Ryan Vogelsong of the San Francisco Giants to the mound tonight to oppose Puerto Rico's Nelson Figueroa. If the USA advances, it will be without the help of their third baseman, David Wright, who has a rib injury that puts his status for Opening Day in question, which might be the most Mets thing ever after he was having such a strong showing in the WBC to this point. Ben Zobrist will replace Wright at third, while Shane Victorino DHs tonight. Yes, really.
Other things are happening tonight if the WBC doesn't suit you. The ACC tournament, for example! Maryland takes on Duke at 7 p.m. and UNC takes on Florida State at 9. Go Heels! Georgetown will also be taking on Syracuse in the Big East tournament semifinals at 7 p.m. from Madison Square Garden. March Madness! I'm sure other things are happening as well, so feel free to talk about them.
