Team USA and Team Canada are playing for survival in the 2013 WBC. The U.S. team is bizarre, as slugger Giancarlo Stanton was benched in favor of over-the-hill Shane Victorino.
Former Yankees manager Joe Torre's American team blew a great chance to score in the top of the second, when David Wright doubled and Ben Zobrist reached on an error. With no one out, Orioles All-Star Adam Jones bunted. Wat. No runs came from the inning, as Eric Hosmer grounded into a force at the plate and Victorino grounded out. Canada took a 2-0 lead on a two-run Michael Saunders homer off Derek Holland (Saunders is hitting .778 so far. SSS of course, but wow.) Holland worked around back-to-back singles and a Victorino error in left (Oh) to get out of the inning, but the U.S. is still trailing 2-0 entering the fourth.
If you don't want to talk about the WBC, don't feel obligated to--you can discuss whatever.
