Yankees have no interest in Joba Chamberlain

Joba has drawn attention from a dozen teams, but the Yankees aren't one of them.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Joba Chamberlain has apparently gotten plenty of attention around baseball as a dozen teams have reportedly inquired on the once promising Yankee prospect. Many Yankee fans will be delighted to hear that the Yankees are not one of them.

After the terrible 2013 season he put together, he'll be lucky to get a major league deal, so there will be plenty of teams interested in trying to find a bargain and taking the chance that he'll figure it out with them. Perhaps they'll even try him out as a starter at some point, but he'll get the contract of a lowly middle reliever in 2014.

I personally could see a team like the Tigers give him a look because of their lack of bullpen depth. The Twins have shown interest in the past when they were looking to trade Johan Santana. The Padres, Marlins, and Astros are other teams I could see looking into him to for a good rebound first half before getting traded away to a team in contention.

No matter who signs him, it won't be the Yankees. I think six years of disappointment is enough.
