Masahiro Tanaka unlikely to post soon

Koji Watanabe

It's thought that Masahiro Tanka could be the most expensive Japenese player ever to be posted. He could eclipse both Yu Darvish's posting fee of $51.7 million (sources say as high as $100 million) and overall contract of 6 years, $60 million. But it doesn't look like he's going to be posted any time soon.

As it turns out, MLB and NPB have yet to agree to a new agreement for the posting system. Apparently the two sides can't agree on the amount of money that will go to the Japanese team. Sources say that progress is slow because MLB wants less money to go to Japanese teams and the NPB wants better compensation for giving up their players.

On top of that, Tanaka still doesn't have an agent as the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles are keeping him isolated during their playoff run. The posting period usually begins on November 1, but with MLB and NPB still negotiating, there's no telling when he will actually post.
