There's plenty of news around baseball and most of it centers around roster transactions to kick off the offseason.
Los Angeles Angels
Larry Corrigan, special assistant to GM Jerry Dipoto, is leaving the Angels to return to the Twins.
Oakland Athletics
The A's have exercised their $7.5 million option on Coco Crisp and $8 million option on Brett Anderson. They have also declined their $11 million option on Chris Young and their $8.5 million option on Kurt Suzuki. They will instead pay Young $1.5 million and Suzuki $650,000 in buyout money.
Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays have exercised their $4 million option on their closer Casey Janssen. Janssen made $3.9 million in 2013 and will be eligible for free agency at the end of the season. They have also exercised their options on Adam Lind and Mark DeRosa, while declining Munenori Kawasaki. In 2014 they will pay Lind $7 million and DeRosa $750,000 while paying Kawasaki, who could return to Japan, a $1 million buyout.
St. Louis Cardinals
The Cardinals have declined their half of the $9.5MM mutual option on Jake Westbrook's contract. They will pay him a $1MM buyout. The Cardinals won't miss him with Adam Wainwright, Michael Wacha, Shelby Miller, Lance Lynn, Joe Kelly, and Jaime Garcia as internal options.
Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers have declined their options on Mark Ellis and Chris Capuano. Ellis' had a $5.75 million club option, and Caupano had a $8 million mutual option, but now each player will receive a $1 million buyout instead.
Cleveland Indians
The Indians have released closer Chris Perez. He is eligible for arbitration for the final time this offseason and was projected to make $9 million. He joins a crowded closer market alongside Joe Nathan, Brian Wilson, Fernando Rodney, Joaquin Benoit, Grant Balfour and Edward Mujica.
The Indians have re-signed 42-year-old Jason Giambi to a minor league contract and an invitation to spring training. They have also acquired left-handed reliever Colt Hynes from the Padres in exchange for cash considerations.
The Indians have declined Jason Kubel's $7.5 million club option for 2014. The Diamondbacks are on the hook for his $1 million buyout after they traded him for a player to be named later.
Ubaldo Jimenez has voided his $8 million club option after the Indians decided to pick it up. He will instead test the open market and Cleveland will not be on the hook for the $1 million buyout they would have had to pay him if they declined his option.
Seattle Mariners
The Mariners have decided to decline their mutual option on Joe Saunders' $8.3 million deal and will pay him a $900,000 buyout. They have also declined Franklin Gutierrez's $7.5MM club option and will pay him a $500,000 buyout.
Miami Marlins
The Marlins have exercised their $1 million option on Jacob Turner for his age-23 season in 2014. He made $1.1 million in 2013 in the last season of the four-year $5.5 million contract he signed with the Tigers after being drafted in 2009. Turner was acquired from the Tigers for Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante in July of 2012.
New York Mets
The Mets have decided to decline their $25 million club option on Johan Santana and will instead pay him a $5.5 million buyout to make him a free agent. The 34-year-old didn't pitch in 2011 or 2013 and could be in line for a minor league deal.
Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles have announced that Dave Wallace is their new pitching coach. He has previously served as pitching coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets and Boston Red Sox, and served as minor league pitching coordinator for the Seattle Mariners and Atlanta Braves.
Pittsburgh Pirates
Wandy Rodriguez has exercised his $13 million player option for the 2014 season. It was expected after the injury-plagued season the left-hander had. He wasn't going to make this much on the free agent market and the Pirates will have to pay the price.
Texas Rangers
The Rangers have decided to decline Lance Berkman's $12 million 2014 option in favor of a $1 million buyout. The 38-year-old missed two month due to injury and batted .242/.340/.359 with six homers. He will likely rethink retirement at this point, though he could try for one more go around.
Joe Nathan has voided his $9 million option with the Rangers after the team picked up his option.
Kansas City Royals
The Royals have exercised their $13.5 million option on James Shields in 2014 for his age-32 season. Shields was acquired, along with Wade Davis, from the Rays for Wil Myers, Jake Odorizzi, Mike Montgomery and Patrick Leonard.
Detroit Tigers

Chicago White Sox
The White Sox have officially agreed to terms with Jose Abreu on a six-year, $68 million contract. The deal will give him a $10 million signing bonus and pay him $7 million in 2014 and 2015, $10 million in 2016, $10.5 million in 2017, $11.5 million in 2018 and $12 million in 2019.
