Yankees Prospects: Eric Jagielo makes Baseball America's top 20 list for the New York-Penn League

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Baseball America has named Eric Jagielo to their list of the top 20 prospects in the New York-Penn League. He was on the list as the No. 6 prospect and had the highest rank of the four 2013 draftees that made the list. He is the third third baseman on the list and the top left-handed hitter in the league. The full list includes three Red Sox prospects, three Mets prospects, an Orioles prospect, and a Rays prospect, catcher Oscar Hernandez, the only prospect from an AL East team to rank higher than Jagielo.

Eric Jagielo was drafted with the Yankees' first pick of the 2013 draft out of Notre Dame and was lauded for his advanced bat. After signing in June, he hit .266/.376/.451 with six home runs and only three errors at third base. He only managed a .397 OPS against right-handed pitchers, but he did walk 11.9% of the time. He will likely start the 2014 season in Low-A Charleston and with a full season, he will hopefully prove just how good a prospects he can be.
