George Kottaras, veteran reserve backstop, has been designated for assignment by the Brewers. Kottaras, a left-handed hitter, is a career .221/.326/.402 hitter but he walks, has power, has career rates of .233/.326/.428 against right-handed pitchers, with 15 home runs in 400 career at-bats, and Russell Martin is deader than disco.
Kotteras has hit .248/.369/.448 against righties this season and last. He can't hit lefties and can't throw, so there's the makings of a platoon with Martin wherein the latter would play against southpaws and teams that tend to run a lot. This is a player who shouldn't cost a whole lot to acquire, although there are other contending teams that could use a catcher who can hit a bit, including the Angels and Nationals, so there should be some competition.
