Probably not, but I'm beginning to wonder. News just broke that the Dodgers signed the latest hot shot Cuban free agent, Yasel Puig.
Off the top of my head, here are the most recent Cuban free agent signings of significance:
Aroldis Chapman, Reds: 6 years/$30.25 million
Leonys Martin, Rangers: 5 years/$15.5 million
Yoenis Cespedes, Athletics: 4 years/$36 million
Jorge Soler, Cubs: 9 years/$30 million
Yasel Puig, Dodgers: 7 years/$42 million
Cashman also didn't care to make a serious play at Yu Darvish, who is having a solid first year in the majors with the Rangers.
I'm not going to go into great detail here, but I'm curious as to what everyone else thinks about the Yankees reluctance to jump into the market for these high profile international players. Do you feel the Yankees should have been bigger players for the names listed above?
UPDATE: The poll seems very evenly split at this point, which is good. What are some of your reasons for voting how you did? Seems like a topic that could start some interesting discussion and/or debate.
