Good morning, Pinstripe Alley!

The Yankees have shipped George Kontos off to San Francisco in exchange for former Yankee Chris Stewart, a "veteran" catcher. By former Yankee, I mean a guy that played one game in pinstripes back in 2008, going 0-3. And by "veteran", I mean a guy that's caught less than half the number of games Francisco Cervelli has in the major leagues (77 to 158).

Good.

In 93 career ML games, the 30-year-old Stewart has managed to put together a measly .200 average with a .273 on-base percentage. He's hit three home runs, though!!! From behind the plate, he's gunned down 28 of 72 runners (38.9%), which is actually very respectable.

Despite the fact that he hit a home run in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Mets, Cervelli was demoted to AAA with the addition of Stewart. Poor, poor 'Cisco.

On track to join the Yankees sometime in early May, Andy Pettitte made his return trip to the mound on Wednesday where he tossed 13 pitches in one inning of work against the New York Mets. Pettitte expects to start a few games in Class-A Tampa before joining Double-A Trenton or Triple-A Empire State. It's all about building stamina at this point.

Boone Logan's MRI came back negative after he complained of back spasms and he's expected to be available in the bullpen for Friday's opener.

Some quick MLB news: The St. Louis Cardinals and Miami Marlins opened the season last night down in South Beach. The defending World Series champions took care of business, crashing Miami's stadium christening with a 4-1 victory. Most notably, Kyle Lohse carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning before Jose Reyes finally poked a single to lead off the bottom of the inning.

A reminder that tomorrow is Opening Day for the New York Yankees when they take on the Tampa Bay Rays at 3:10 p.m. in St. Petersburg, FL.
