The Pinstripe Press
Last night's scheduled 8:00PM Yankees - Red Sox game was cancelled due to the weather, and by weather I mean non-stop pouring rain. The game has not been rescheduled as of yet, but the Yankees and Red Sox play each other plenty of times during the year, so I'm sure they'll be able to fit this game in somewhere. Just a hunch.
Meanwhile, due to said rainout, the rotation has been pushed back a day meaning that CC Sabathia will take the mound tonight in Arlington to face the dangerous Texas Rangers lineup at 8:00PM. It also means that Tuesday's matchup will be Kuroda vs. Darvish, which is sure to be a Japanese media storm. Finally Hughes will start Wednesday before the Yankees come home to face the Tigers.
Brett Gardner is scheduled to return to the Yankees on May 3rd, when the Yankees begin a four game series against the Kansas City Royals. Gardner's defense and stylish good looks have been missed in left field, and it will be great to have him back out there. I'm marking off the days on my calendar.
Speaking of injuries, Michael Pineda is scheduled to get an MRI today. There will be more on this story once we find out the results of the MRI, but hopefully it's nothing too serious. Best of luck, Pineda.
IATMS asks if it's time to give David Phelps a chance in the rotation in place of Garcia before Andy Pettitte comes back to the Bronx. After Garcia's abysmal start on Saturday, many people have been asking this question despite the fact that Phelps did not have his best stuff after he took over for Garcia that very same game. It doesn't seem like they will though. I personally do not expect them to.
The Yankee Analysts have a good article on Mark "don't drive while Tex Messaging" Teixeira, discussing his opposite field home run as well as his sudden surge of hitting. Give it a read if you have the time. Also seriously, don't swing a bat and try to hit a home run while driving.
Finally, in other Yankees news, Mariano Rivera and Curtis Granderson will be the "brand ambassadors" for the Yankees new official fragrance line. Yes, that's right. The Yankees new official fragrance line. Before you've only been able to see and hear how good the Yankees are. Now you, and everyone else around you, can smell 27 World Championships every time you step out for a night on the town. "New York Yankees" for men and women, will be available at Yankee Stadium and Macy's. You root for a winner, so it's time to smell like one as well!
