Ivan Nova and the Yankees will take on the Red Sox and Clay Buchholz in funny uniforms this afternoon at 3:15 p.m. for the 100 year celebration of Fenway Park. Until then, entertain yourselves with some news:
- Mike Axisa at RAB discusses what Brett Gardner's injury might mean for the team. Before hitting the DL, Gardner was one of the hottest Yankees at the plate and always brings his strong defense in the outfield. DeWayne Wise is killing the ball at AAA, so can we please have him instead of Ibanez having to play defense, Cashman?
- You can keep track of how top prospects Mason Williams and Dante Bichette Jr. are doing on the PSA sidebar, but Eric Schultz from TYA checked in on some under the radar prospects like Adam Warren and Melky Mesa. If other top prospects are your thing, you can read about them here.
- To show their appreciation for his monster offensive game, the fans at Yankee Stadium called for a Curtis Granderson curtain call last night, the first one Granderson had ever gotten. Granderson had an opportunity to join Lou Gehrig as the only Yankees with a four home run game, but he ended his night 5-5 with three home runs and two singles instead. Darn.
- The April schedule is a tough one, to be sure, and William Tasker at It's About the Money gives a State of the Yankees report about their progress so far. The team hasn't really performed as well as they are capable of yet, but still have strong offensive numbers. Once the offense and starting pitching rounds into shape, it will be really exciting to watch.
