David Robertson loses a battle with the stairs; Yankees groan

D-Rob will have problems doing such acrobatics with a sprained foot.

David Robertson hurt himself today. He was moving boxes down the stairs and he fell, spraining his right foot in the process. Fortunately, the injury doesn't sound too bad since his X-rays came back negative, but it is never good to see pitchers hurt their feet. Those injuries can awkwardly linger for awhile and cause problems in the pitching motion. Since D-Rob's control has not historically been great, a foot injury might make it worse. Joe Girardi felt optimistic that Robertson will return for Opening Day, but he also said "only time will tell."

Here's what the bullpen looks like now:

Mariano Rivera

David Robertson

Rafael Soriano

Boone Logan

Cory Wade

Freddy Garcia/Phil Hughes

???

he last spot in the bullpen seems to be up for grabs, but if Robertson is forced to miss time at the start of the season, that would open up another spot in the back of the bullpen for another arm like George Kontos, Clay Rapada, or Cesar Cabral. Who would you pick?

Either way, here's hoping everything okay with D-Rob and the Yankees get him back soon.
