The Mariners Have Signed Raul Ibanez

The postseason hero is the latest to leave.

Jesse Johnson-US PRESSWIRE

The Mariners have signed Yankees left fielder/designated hitter Raul "Home Field Advantage" Ibanez to a one-year contract. Not that much else to say on this one, pilgrims, except that any time a rival organization steps in to prevent you from re-signing a soon-to-be 41-year-old who posted a .308 on-base percentage last season, you ought to send them a thank-you note. No good ever came from going back to that well. You just tip your cap to the uncharacteristically generous baseball gods for giving you what you got and move on to the important business of finding somebody younger.
