New York Yankees Re-Sign Andy Pettitte

Will he/won't he took a little less time this year, as Pettitte and the Yankees agree to terms for 2013.

The New York Yankees and Andy Pettitte agreed to a one-year/$12 million dollar contract on Wednesday with a possible $2.5 million in bonuses possible for the veteran lefty. Pettitte's new salary represents quite an upgrade over the $2.5 million dollar deal he signed for 2012, but after finding success in his return to baseball after a one-year trip to the retirement home, it's no surprise that he was due a raise.

The pitching rotation for 2013 seems pretty filled out at this point, with CC Sabathia, Hiroki Kuroda, Andy Pettitte, Phil Hughes, Ivan Nova, and David Phelps in the mix to occupy five spots with Michael Pineda hopefully finding his way into the fold mid-season. As we saw this past year, you can really never have too many pitchers and these things have a way of working themselves out. Now the Yankees can focus on filling out their offensive holes with the Winter meetings still to come.

It appears that the next order of business will be coming to an agreement with Mariano Rivera and seeing whether or not the Pirates will outbid the Yankees with their supposed three-year offer to Russell Martin.
