Late Morning News: Holiday Edition

I hope everybody slept in; I've got a few little pieces of news for you:

Joe Girardi plans to take the 6 man rotation once more through before making a decision. And even then, he might not make a decision. Since he's already publicly committed to resting one starter each day for the rest of the season, I'd rather see a 5 man rotation alternating skipping AJ and Hughes, but Girardi is the guy (usually asleep) at the switch.

Joe Poz takes a stab at defending the win as a stat the pitcher deserves.

Over at Fangraphs, Matt Klaasen notices Roger Maris' low career BABIP and asks for reasons why from fans who saw him play. My expectation from what I've read is that Maris hit a lot of pop flies or weak groundouts.
