The Yankees are looking to bounce back after a tough loss last night. And they'll have their ace on the hill to do it.
CC will - in all likelihood - crack the 200-inning barrier for the sixth time in his 11-year career tonight. He stands at 197.2 ip. He's suffered from bad luck in his last three starts - his 6.43 ERA over that span belies a stellar K/BB rate of 22/2 and a BABIP of .377 against a line drive rate of only 16%. When things eventually normalize, we'll see the dominant CC we're all used to. Tonight will be his first start against Oakland this season.
Cahill is having somewhat of a down year. His latest stretch hasn't helped much - in his last six games he's conceded 30 earned runs in 32 ip for an 8.44 ERA. And it all started with a pounding he took from the Yankees on July 22nd (2 ip, 10 er).
