CC got the Yankees off to a good start last night and Phil Hughes will try to keep the Yanks in the win column against Kevin Slowey of the Twins.
Lineups -
NYY: GGBG, Jeets, Grandy, Tex, Cano, Swish, Chavez (3B), Jo-Po (DH), Russell
MIN: Revere, Plouffe, Mauer (C), Morneau, Kubel (DH), Valencia, Tosoni, Hughes, Nishioka
Phil Hughes is 3-3 with a 4.28 ERA since returning from the DL on July 7th. He's made just one career start against Minnesota, back in May of 2009, and allowed three earned runs in five frames.
Slowey has missed most of 2011 due to a variety of ailments (biceps, shoulder, abdomen) and hence has appeared in just six games, all as a reliever. This will be his first start of the season.
- Full on preview.
A-Rod rejoined the team yesterday but won't be activated until tomorrow at the earliest (probably as a DH).
