Yankees 7, Royals 4: A Win for A.J.

"I'm so awesome, sometimes I even surprise myself."

The Yankees are on a two game winning streak and once again tied with the (idle) Red Sox atop the AL East with the best record in the American League.

Derek Jeter slugged a two RBI triple to make a winner out of A.J. Burnett. Incredibly, it's A.J.'s first August win as a Yankee. Through the first five innings, both starters bent but didn't break. Both allowed double-digit base-runners in under six innings of work, but A.J. was just a little bit luckier, allowing only three earned runs.

Nick Swisher, Brett Gardner, Jeter and Robinson Cano all recorded multiple hits, while Eric Chavez went 0-5 (but he did it as a third baseman!).

Rafael Soriano allowed a walk, a hit and a run in his inning of work.

Mariano Rivera was back to his old self, striking out one without allowing a base-runner for his 31st save.

A solid win, and a good game to build on.
