The airing date and time for the much talked about Derek Jeter 3,000th hit HBO special were announced earlier today by YankeesPR on twitter. It will be next Thursday, July 28, at 9 p.m. Run time is one hour.
Conveniently, New York has an off-day that very same Thursday. I wonder how the ratings will be for the show considering it won't be competing against a baseball game for viewers.
Truthfully, I'll probably end up watching it. My family has an HBO package and the fact that there's no game on, I don't believe I have any other plans that night anyway. Obviously, there will be an open thread and I'm sure we'll be sharing thoughts on the one hour special.
What I find most intriguing about this entire ordeal is that Derek Jeter actually wore a wire while he was playing. As if it wasn't overkill when all the cameras were following him around Yankee Stadium and, apparently, his own home. I'm curious who from his family participated in this and which baseball players, former or current.
