Mood Music - Hail Mary by Tupac (NSFW - Language)
If you watched last night's war of attrition between the Rays and the Red Sox, the Yankees seem to have picked the perfect time to come to Tampa. After sixteen tedious and long innings, the Rays fell 1-0, and will likely have little bullpen support for the recently recalled Alex Cobb.
Cobb has split time between the majors and AAA Durham and last pitched in the big leagues on June 18th. He will use both a four-seam and two-seam fastball (~91 MPH), but mainly to set up his off-speed stuff. Cobb will throw a change-up to both left handed and right handed batters as well as a curve (~78 MPH). He has never faced the Yankees, so be prepared for the panic button if he looks sharp the first time through the order.
The Yankees will send A.J. Burnett to the hill for his third start of the season against the Rays. His last two (5.2 IP - 6 ER on 5/16, 5.2 IP - 3 ER on 7/9) left something to be desired, but I've been encouraged with how A.J. has pitched his last few outings, even if the results haven't always been terrific.
