After losing the first two games of their West Coast road trip, the Yankees will look to win their third straight tonight behind the arm of Freddy Garcia. Brett Anderson will take the ball for the A's.
The Yankees' high powered offense will be tested against Anderson, who has allowed only one homer in May and only four all season.
Derek Jeter and Mark Teixeira could be key tonight, as the two have hit well off of Anderson in limited at bats. Jeter is hitting .429 (6-14) off the left-hander and Teixeira is hitting .500 (6-12). Nick Swisher, Robinson Cano, and Andruw Jones have been shut down by Anderson. Of those three, Cano has the highest OPS (.500).
This will be Freddy Garcia's sixth start against the A's since 2004. The only current A's player to have relative success off of him is David DeJesus, who owns a career .324/.361/.382 line against Garcia. Of the four A's that have had more than ten plate appearances against Garcia, none of them have an OPS above .800, and only DeJesus' is above .700.
