Red Sox Sweep Yankees at Yankee Stadium

The angry dome is near full capacity, as the Yankees have been swept by the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium. The Red Sox defeated the Yankees 7-5 tonight, thanks to an Alex Rodriguez botched play, and strong hitting performances from David Ortiz and Kevin Youkilis.

The Yankees opened the scoring with a run in the first on a Mark Teixeira RBI single, but the Red Sox tied it up in the top second

Home runs by Andruw Jones (solo) and Curtis Granderson (two run) helped the Yankees take a four to one lead. After that, it was almost all Red Sox.

The Red Sox tied it on a three run home run by Kevin Youkilis, and took the lead on a solo home run by David Ortiz. The lead was extended by a Bill Buckner-esque blunder by Alex Rodriguez at third base.

Rodriguez regained the run he gave up in the bottom of the seventh, hitting an RBI double. That would be it for the Yankees scoring, and the Red Sox would tack on another run.

The Red Sox left nine on base, and the Yankees left eight. The Red Sox out hit the Yankees eight to six, and finally reached the .500 mark.

Notes: Derek Jeter was 0-4, Nick Swisher was 0-3 with a big strikeout in the seventh, Brett Gardner was 0-4 with five men left on base, and Freddy Garcia gave up four earned runs in 5.1 IP.
