Game 36 Preview: Boston Comes to the Bronx

New, comments

The Yankees are coming off an ugly series loss to the Royals, the Rays took sole pole possession of first place in the AL East, and now the Red Sox are in the Bronx for what is sure to be an exciting weekend series. Bartolo Colon will take the ball for the Yankees tonight, facing off against Clay Buchholz.

Buchholz has only two quality starts through his first seven outings, but has looked good during the month of May: 11.2 IP, 1.54 ERA, 8 K's, and a 1.11 WHIP.

Colon has three quality starts through his first four outings, but got knocked around during his last start in Texas. Hopefully we will see the Colon we saw against the Blue Jays, the White Sox, and the Tigers.

Worth Noting:

  • Over their last nine games, the Yankees are hitting a combined .248/.334/.405, scoring only 4.1 runs per game, and leaving 7.2 runner on base per game.
  • With the way the Yanks have played recently, Girardi think the Sox coming to town may be a good thing. "Maybe we need the Red Sox to come in now, that way everything gets turned up," he said.
  • The Yankees' run differential is +33. The Red Sox are -15.
  • SBN NY has two previews of the upcoming series.
