The Yankees lost to the Royals last night in extra innings for the first time since 1999, thanks in large part to an offense that couldn't produce when the money was on the table (2-for-16 with RISP). They'll try to right the ship tonight, sending Ivan Nova to the mound opposite Sean O'Sullivan.
Wednesday wasn't the best of nights for the Bombers. Their star second baseman was beaned, David Robertson coughed up a late lead, and A.J. Burnett hinted at the command problems that typically lead to one of his soul-destroying funks.
The good news? Robinson Cano's CT scan came back negative (he's day-to-day), Joba Chamberlain should be an option tonight, and Burnett threw a one-hitter over seven innings, pretty damn good regardless of wildness.
With an important series with the Red Sox looming (aren't they all), it would behoove the Yankees to go into the weekend on the heels of another series victory. Let's see if they can do it.

2. Granderson CF
3. Teixeira 1B
4. Rodriguez 3B
5. Cano 2B (pending doctor approval, according to LoHud)
