You are wise... young padawan learner.

LOTS of baseball on the menu for tonight.

American League: Athletics vs. Twins, Rangers vs. Orioles, Blue Jays vs. Angels, Indians vs. Mariners

National League: Marlins vs. Astros, Rockies vs. Pirates, Cubs vs. Brewers, Nationals vs. Mets, Dodgers vs. Padres, Reds vs. Diamondbacks, Cardinals vs. Giants

Fun with numbers !

  • Average home attendance for the first six games of last season was 44,602. This season? 42,058. Not as terrible as we thought. I was at three of the first six games last year and I remember the weather being a bit warmer than it's been this year. Also, the Yankees started the season on March 31 this year. Last year their first game was against the Angels on April 13. Two weeks can make a big difference in weather.
  • Getting ahead of ourselves with Teixeira? Tex's average numbers through his first eight games (yes, small sample sizes!!) of every year between 2003-2010: .206 BA, .326 OBP, 1 HR, 4 RBI. How about 2011? .200 BA, .333 OBP, 4 HR, 10 RBI. Lots of hoopla being made about his "fast start" to the year. 0 hits in his last 15 ABs. I guess homers make lasting impressions.
  • Anyone notice how good Robinson Cano is at Fenway Park? After some quick mathematics... I've got the answer for you. In 54 games, he's put together a .364 BA, 11 HR, 48 RBI. Not too shabby, eh?
