Wow. I really don't know what to say. For as many reasons as there were to dislike Manny - his tendency to dog it on the field, or the fact that he played for the Red Sox - it's tough to deny his place in history as one of the greatest pure hitters of the past 30 years.
I'm beating a dead horse by saying that Ramirez was just one of hundreds, possibly thousands, of players who cheated over the past 25 years, and if he wasn't famous, we wouldn't care. But 555 home runs, 1,831 RBI, and a key role on one of the most famous teams of the past half-century make us care very much. And now he's a pariah.
It's sad, really.
