Last night's rain out provided Yankee fans a chance to catch our breath, take a look around the league, and maybe re-evaluate the team.

The New York Yankees will only go as far as their rotation can take them, but so far the Bomber starters' ERA is half that of their Red Sox counterparts. And at the other end of the spectrum, the offense has been exponentially more potent than the Rays (only 1 run in 4 of their 5 games).

At the start of Spring Training, the Yankees seemed to have 3 areas of concern:

  • Can Russell Martin rebound?
  • Who will round out the rotation?
  • Can the older stars, especially Arod and Jeter, perform like their younger selves?

Russell Martin looks good to me. I'm pretty comfortable with Nova and Garcia, though, frankly I'm going to be nervous about Phil Hughes until I see him string together a handful of impressive starts. So far Arod looks great, but Jeter doesn't seem to be striking the ball with any authority.

How are you feeling about the Yankees now that the season is one week old?
