Yankees links: Abuse, illegal signs, and an extension

A member of the Yankees' operating staff was flashing signs to the hitters during Opening Day's 6-3 win over the Tigers. Brian Cashman, after questioning by MLB, responded by saying he was merely flashing the velocity of the opponents' pitches because the scoreboard had malfunctioned.

  • Cashman, apparently in the most honest period of time in his career, called the Mets' treatment of Pedro Feliciano "abusive," (partly) blaming it for his current DL stint.
  • DirecTV and the YES Network have agreed to an extension of their deadline until Thursday. If a deal isn't reached by then (and another extension doesn't happen), DirecTV subscribers will lose YES for who knows how long.
