It's a quiet Thursday night in the Yankee Universe.
The Bombers are sitting pretty atop the AL East (10-6). They're ready for the weekend series in Baltimore (who are wrapping up their own set with the Twins).
The Tampa Bay Rays have righted their ship behind strong pitching performances (8-2 in their last 10), and are in second place at 9-9. They're facing the White Sox.
The Red Sox are still in the basement (6-11) with a chance to lose to Tyler Chatwood and the AL West-leading Angels tonight. A Josh Beckett implosion is always entertaining, so that's what I'll be rooting for.
Elsewhere around the league, the Mets and Astros continue their battle for the 1st overall draft pick in 2012. The Indians and the Royals fight for "most surprising April" honors. The Phillies roll Roy Oswalt out in San Diego, while the Oakland A's and the Seattle Mariners begin the fight for AL West also-ran (though, in fairness, I'm pretty sure I picked the A's to win the West... shows what I know).
Feel free to use this as an open thread for the evening to talk all things baseball.
True or False: MLB intervention with the Los Angeles Dodgers will look more like the 2010 Texas Rangers' action (swoop in and force a sale) than like the 2002 Montreal Expos take over (years of league ownership and governance).
