Potential Yankee starter Kevin Millwood made his first start for the organization today, hurling a seven-inning complete game for the Double-A Trenton Thunder against the Harrisburg Senators.
His final line: 7 ip, 1 h, 0 r, 4 bb, 3 k - 88 pitches, 53 for strikes (60%). His fastball topped out at 87 MPH. Millwood did not get a batter to swing and miss through his first forty four pitches.
If the big league club wants his services, they'll need to promote him soon. He can opt out of his contract on May 1.
(The game only went seven inning because it was the first game of a double-header. It's the norm in the minors.)
