Boston Red Sox 4, New York Yankees 0

The Yankees came out tonight, expecting Josh Beckett to pitch like 2010 Josh Beckett. Instead, he pitched like 2003 World Series Josh Beckett, and out dueled Yankees starter CC Sabathia.

With A-Rod out of the lineup due to sickness, the Yankees were only able to manage two hits off of Beckett, while striking out ten times.

Sabathia threw 118 pitches (69 strikes) through 5.2 innings, giving up one run before being removed for Joba Chamberlain. Joba gave up two runs, and Boone Logan shut down the Sox' rally. The Sox managed to tack on an extra run off of Freddy Garcia, who made his Yankees debut.

Many Yankees are currently struggling at the plate,  as Jorge Posada is 0 for his last 17 with eight strikeouts, Brett Gardner is 0 for his last 9, Mark Teixeira is hit less in his last fourteen at bats, and Curtis Granderson is hitting .172.

The home plate umpire Mike Winters was absolutely dreadful, especially in the last inning, but the Yankees hitters simply did not show up.

The Yankees are now 5-4, and the Red Sox are 2-7.

Comment of the Game: WWJD on Red Sox fans' chants.
