It was another good day for the offense but not so much for the pitchers as the Yanks won a slug-fest, 10-8. Phil Hughes surrendered two home runs and three runs in three innings. He didn't record an out on the ground (against five fly-outs), but didn't walk anyone either.
He was followed by Steve Garrison, Brian Anderson, Eric Wordekemper (the only pitcher who didn't allow an earned run) and David Phelps.
The offense combined for 21 hits, including homers by Alex Rodriguez and Greg Golson. Derek Jeter, Russell Martin, Andruw Jones, Eduardo Nunez, Jordan Parraz and Justin Maxwell had two hits each.
The Yanks play a split-squad doubleheader tomorrow against Philadelphia and Baltimore.
