There ain't no ties in baseball! Well, there are in Spring Training, when Joe Girardi and Joe Maddon decided to call it quits after 10 innings.
Freddy Garcia K'ed one and allowed two hits in two scoreless innings. He was followed by Ivan Nova, who did him one better with three scoreless frames (including six groundouts) without a strikeout. He's definitely in the driver's seat for one of the two open rotation spots.
Dellin Betances followed with a scoreless inning, then came out for another inning and K'ed Manny Ramirez and Matt Joyce on curveballs. It fell apart after that as he allowed a double and three walks to force in a run. Adam Warren relieved him and K'ed Joe Inglett on three pitches. But while the hurlers were great again (Yankee starters have conceded one run in 12 innings), the lineup was almost non-existent.
The offense scored one (unearned) run, totaling four hits, one for extra-bases (a double by Eric Chavez). Brett Gardner stole his first base but was also picked-off second. Jesus Montero went 0-2 but made a nice block of home-plate on a throw from the aforementioned Gardner. The team went 0-7 with RISP.
