Twins edge Yankees, 7-6

A group of eight Yankee pitchers struggled to finish today's match against the Twins. Buddy Carlyle started and lasted 1.1 innings before Steve Garrison, Josh Schmidt, Wilkins Arias, Francisco Gil, Andy Sisco, Eric Wordekemper and Pat Venditte closed out the (surely) excruciating affair. Romulo Sanchez was scratched just before gametime.

At least the Yankee batters pummeled Carl(a) Pavano, getting 11 hits (and five runs) off the ex-Bomber over six frames. Cano started the party with a long solo-homer in the first. Tex went 2-3 with a double, the Austins (Krum and Romine) combined to go 4-4 with a home run.

Andruw Jones continued his awful spring with an 0-4 (probably with four groundouts to the left side of the infield), lowering his batting average to .171.

With Feliciano likely headed to the DL, southpaw Steve Garrison is a "viable option" for the bullpen, said Joe Girardi.

Houston's Rule 5 pick, Lance Pendleton, was returned to the Yankees and assigned to Triple-A.
