- New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera is going to show up a little bit late to Spring Training due to his children being sick with the flu. While making your own schedule is certainly a perk included in the Greatest Closer of All Time package, we will have to wait until (likely) tomorrow for Rivera to grace us with his presence. As Rivera is normally used very lightly (~10 innings) during Spring Training, this should have no effect on his preparation for opening day.
- Were you excited about making "Brian Schlitter" jokes? If this thread was any indication, Schlitter's mere presence would have been enough to provide hours of levity. Unfortunately for the wordsmiths among you (looking at you, long time listener), Schlitter has been claimed by the Phillies. If there was ever a time for Nick Johnson to have the popular support of Yankees fans, it would be now.
- When I write these posts, I often use Google News to scour the internet for Yankees related topics for your perusal. By merely entering the words "New York Yankees," I found one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine articles about Joba Chamberlain and his offseason weight gain. Is there ever going to be a time when 24 innings in 2007 isn't going to mean that every time that Joba blows his nose we need the media to provide us with every angle?
Baseball is coming soon! Patience, grasshopper.
