Lou Piniella, back in the Bronx.

Sorry about the lack of content today, folks. To make up for it, here's a few links to help you procrastinate.

  • Lou Piniella is set to rejoin the Yankees. He won't be coaching, however. He'll be an analyst in the YES Network television booth. I think this is a really cool move.
  • The Yankees have their doubts about Japanese phenom Yu Darvish (According to a source, one of the doubts is the size of the baseball, which I thought was changed this season to reflect the baseballs used in MLB. Correct me if I am mistaken, please.). They are expected to bid on him, but it is not expected that their bid will be enough to land the highly touted 25-year-old righty.
  • The Yankees tendered contracts to all arbitration eligible players before last night's deadline, and hope to avoid the arbitration process with each of them. Meanwhile, Brian Cashman is continuing to negotiate with Hiroyuki Nakajima. Fangraphs recently took a look at the Yankees winning the negotiating rights to Nakajima.
  • Jon Heyman reported that Andrew Brackman has signed on with the Reds.
