Boston 7, Yankees 3: The Question Mark Game

What is it about the final out of the fifth inning that makes it so elusive?  Ivan Nova couldn't get, going 4.2 in the start.  Then Royce Ring came in, and he couldn't get it.  It took Chad Gaudin to get that final out.  At that point, the Yankees were down 4-0, and Jon Lester was throwing a perfect game.

What is it about Joe Girardi that he wants to find a way to make Brett Gardner a platoon player?

A HBP would break up the perfect game, and a 6th inning Cervelli single would break up the no-no.

But the Yankees couldn't seem to catch a break.  Jeter singled through the left side, but Austin Kearns (running from second) got throw out at home.

Chad "White Flag" Gaudin actually pitched a scoreless 6th inning, then gave up back to back homers in the 7th.

Theeee Yankees lose.  Again.

Comment of the Game: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., for the precision of his optimism.

Play of the Game: Scutaro's 3rd inning RBI single increased the Red Sox's chances of winning by 8.2%.
