The Yankees were swept out of Texas today, as Cliff Lee was almost unhittable. Following a leadoff walk to Derek Jeter, Cliff Lee pitched 5.1 perfect innings. Eduardo Nunez broke up the no-hitter and eventually Derek Jeter doubled him home to give the Yankees a one run lead going into the bottom of the sixth.
The Rangers tied the score in the bottom of the sixth, their first run off of Dustin Moseley. In the bottom of the 7th the Rangers finally got to Moseley, with a three run inning. The first run was scored on a bunt single by Julio Borbon.
Don't be mistaken by Moseley's line, he had a very, very solid performance. The lineup (which had no Rodriguez, Swisher, or Gardner) was just awful against Lee.
For the Yankees it was their first time being swept since July 10-12 of last season. The Yankees were the last team to be swept on the road this season. (This according to Pete Caldera)
The Rays lost so the Yankees remain up a half a game going into Tampa Bay.
