New York Yankees 4, Toronto Blue Jays 3: Javy Gets an A+

If you had to grade Javier Vazquez' performance in today's game, there is only once choice. An A+. Vazquez was unhittable outside of a Vernon Wells two-run home run in the Yankees 4-3 victory. Down 2-0 going into the top of the 8th, the Yankees bats finally came alive, scoring four times. After Joba Chamberlain gave up a run in the bottom half, Mariano Rivera closed it out to save the Yankees from being swept.

Vazquez is now 5-5 with a 5.62 ERA. He walked four, but struck-out nine and gave up only one hit in seven innings of solid work. Joe Girardi got tossed in the top of the 8th after Nick Swisher was called out on a questionable check-swing call, but Tony Pena finished out the coaching victory.

Comment of the Game: A sign to the Yankees offense from Kevin

Play of the Game: If I'm reading the graph correctly, Vernon Wells' two run home run off Vazquez.
