Game 76: Yanks vs. M's, Phil Vs. Cliff

Mood music - Miss You by The Rolling Stones

The Yankees are looking to reach the 20 games over .500 mark for the first time this season, and will send recently 24 year old wunderkind Phil Hughes to the mound. The Phranchise will be opposed by the walking, pitching, trade rumor that is Cliff Lee, in what should be a nice pitchers duel (so, I'll fully expect a 12-10 game).

Hughes has continued his excellent breakout season of late, with a 5-0 record and an ERA of 3.86 in his last 5 starts, but has really been helped out by some excellent run support. That might be a little bit tougher to come by with the 150 Million Dollar Man on the hill.

In other news, A-Rod, after a long power drought, has 3 home runs in his last 5 games, and don't look now, but Mark Teixeira is currently riding a 9 game hitting streak, including 3 home runs of his own. If those guys get hot at the same time, this team could be really really fun to watch.

Oh, and if I'm not mistaken, balls and strikes will be called by an impatient tub of lard tonight, which could make this interesting. And here's a link to Lookout Landing if you want to go read or chat with Mariner's fans.
