This was a bad day to be White Sox fan.

Phil Hughes pitched extremely well, and he addressed some of the issues that have been concerning fans.  He did allow a couple of hits - actually, nearly doubling his season total (and raising his BABIP at least a bit) - and surrendered only one walk.  The only thing that probably kept him from going out to pitch the 8th inning was the fact that the Yankees tacked on an additional 5 runs in their half of the seventh to increase the lead to 12-0.

Tex had four hits and showed big signs of breaking out his slump, Cano and Gardner both continued their hot streaks, and Francisco Cervelli played third base for two innings to round things out .

Play of the game: Robinson Cano's 5th inning, 3-run homer

Quote of the game: long time listener talks about Nick Johnson:

Well, he’s not hitting, he screwed that up, and he plays Miley Cyrus as his AB music. If he was trying to be hated, it’s hard to see how he’d go about it any different.
