The Yankees defeated the Rangers today, finishing off a three game sweep of the team from Texas. The Yankees got an early rally thanks to two HBP's and a walk, but only scored once in the first. Later the Yankees would get contributions from Mark Teixeira (first HR of the regular season), Jorge Posada (home-run to extend the lead), Ramiro Pena (2 run single with bases loaded and 2 outs) and Brett Gardner (running around the bases all game long)
Andy Pettitte was stellar once again, as he earned the win for the Bronx Bombers. Pettitte pitched 8 innings, giving up only 4 hits and 2 earned runs. Pettitte is now 2-0 with a 1.35 ERA on the season.
Mariano Rivera finished off the game with a 1-2-3 9th inning, including two strikeouts, and got his fifth save of the season.
Play of the Game: Tough choice, but I'll give it to Mark Teixeira for his first home-run of a rough season for him so far.
Comment of the Game: Mrljdavid's comparison of Joe Madden to the old man from Up.
