Well, that sucked.
Javier Vazquez hastened the floodgates of criticism by allowing 4 runs over 5 1/3 innings (he really only "allowed" 3 of them), and the Yankees weren't able to make much out of a no-outs, runners on 2nd and 3rd situation in the bottom of the 8th.
I'll do my public service now and beg and plead that we all lay off of Vazquez, as it's still early, and today's start has nothing to do with 2004 or any fatal character flaw he might have.
Comment of the game:
can't believe we're complaining about a guy giving us a quality start
By lololol. At least it sure looked like a quality start (at least by technical definition) at the time.
Play of the game:
It's tough to find a highlight in low-scoring, ho-hum game, but I'll go with Nick Swisher legging out his seventh career triple in the 5th inning.
Hopefully Hughes can get his 2010 season off to a good start tomorrow night.
