Javy Vazquez faces Livan Hernandez. It'll be the 'A lineup': DJ, NJ, Tex, Arod, Cano, Jorge, Grandy, Swish and GGBG. And watch for Frankie Cervelli to play thirdbase sometime tonight.
FYI, Washington lost 11 straight to start Spring Training.
7:05 first pitch. TV is MLB.tv and MASN (if you have it).
- Postgame notes -
Vazquez dominated tonight (6 ip, 1 er, 4 h, 0 bb, 6 k). I am fortunate to have access to MASN, so I watched Javy throw all his pitches for strikes and generally treat Washington's hitters like children. He's a very good pitcher, and I don't want to take anything away from him, but there's a reason he had his career year in the NL East.
At the plate, Grandy walked and singled, NJ walked and doubled, and A-Rod tripled and singled. Cervelli singled in his only AB and made a fine play at thirdbase. What can't he do?
Marte, Mo and Melancon (the M & M & M Boys) closed out the game with three scoreless, walk-less innings.
Aceves and Mitre go tomorrow against the O's at 1:05.
