No real shocker here:

This is the first time I've been a free agent and I'm going to see what that's all about. It's an earned right by a player once you get six-plus years, and I'm going to take advantage of that and see where it leads me.

For all the noise in the last few days about Cliff Lee's wife's reaction to Yankee Stadium and loving Texas, it's going to come down to dollars.  Texas has no income tax, New York has CC Sabathia and a perpetual commitment/ mandate to win.

I'd sign him, but I wouldn't cry if he gets $25M/Y from the Rangers and chooses Texas.

Before the season, the rumors were he wanted to play for the Yankees.  Of course, those were the rumors about Roy Halladay, too, so either the rumors are wrong or players can settle for other cities when millions and millions of dollars are on the table.
