Game 151: Big series

Andy Pettitte takes the ball in an attempt to beat the Yankees' bane and get the team back on track toward the best record in the league. The magic numbers are as such: playoffs: 1, division: 9, best record: 8.

The Los Angeles, California Angels, of Anaheim, Orange County, are 5.5 games back of the Yanks, five in the loss column while the Red Sox are five back, four in the loss column.

Since 2005, the Yankees have gone 6-19 in Anaheim (including the playoffs). That's a .200 win percentage.

Pettitte hasn't helped matters much. In two games against the Angels this year, he's 0-1 with a 9.90 ERA in 10 innings (and 2.200 WHIP).

Joe Saunders wasn't any better in one start back in July, allowing five runs in five innings.

This could be a high-scoring affair (now that I write that, it'll almost assuredly be a pitcher's duel).

At least we have a rested bullpen thanks to Sergio Mitre (who woulda thunk it?).
