It's been a long week since Phil Hughes took the loss after giving up 4 runs (3 earned) to the Red Sox to open the rain shortened series.
In his last outing, Hughes threw too many pitches (94, but 57 strikes). Look for him to be more economical against a less intimidating lineup in Baltimore. He has to be careful with the top 3 (Roberts, Jones and Markakis), but the bottom third of the lineup looks more anemic than the Yanks'. And that's saying something.
We'd better smack around veteran retread Adam Eaton. The league is hitting over .300 against him this season, he's walked 3.5/9IP, and his WHIP has averaged 1.6 over the last 3 season. He gave up 323 hits in 268 innings over two years with the Phillies.
That said, I predict a 3-2 Yankee win.
